CNOC Mhuire Senior School in Killinarden was recently the recipient of the nationally recognised Digital School of Distinction Award which is accredited by the Department of Education.

Irene Masterson and Siobhan Murphy were two of the people who helped the school receive its Digital School Status, having worked with the pupils of 5th Class in the ‘Sponsor a Laptop’ project.

School principal Orla Hanahoe told The Echo: “This is a wonderful achievement for the school and is down first and foremost to the commitment and dedication of the school staff in integrating the use of technology into our school’s daily life.

“This would not have been possible were it not for the support of the many local companies who have helped further equip our school with the technology needed.

“Their interest, support and generosity of spirit is central in facilitating this ICT literate environment and we thank them greatly.

“Irene Masterson and Siobhan Murphy were pivotal in gaining this status, their commitment and drive with ICT in the school is outstanding.

“Their 5th Class worked diligently on the project, a project in which a lot of learning was involved, widening their horizons and introducing them to our local companies and possibly future careers.

“They are wonderful children who love their school and have worked so hard to make it an even better place.”
